Labour Party Officially Presents Certificate of Return to Basil Maduka

The Labour Party has presented a Certificate of Return to its Owerri Zone (Imo East) Senatorial candidate, Basil Maduka, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The certificate was presented during a ceremony at the Labour Party National Secretariat in Abuja, making Maduka the first senatorial candidate in Imo State to officially receive a Certificate of Return from his party.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, the Mbaise-born politician dedicated the achievement to God and the people of Mbaise Nation, describing it as a significant milestone in what he called the journey toward greater political representation for Mbaise and the entire Owerri Senatorial Zone.

Maduka pledged to leverage his experience, network, and resources to attract meaningful development projects and democratic dividends to communities across the zone if elected into the Senate.

“I dedicate this Certificate of Return to the glory of Almighty God and to the people of Mbaise Nation on this historic day. It marks another step in our journey towards effective representation of Mbaise Nation and the entire Imo East Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly in 2027,” he said.

The Labour Party candidate also promised to provide quality representation and purposeful leadership capable of driving growth and development across the district.

Maduka expressed gratitude to the Labour Party for entrusting him with the mandate to contest the senatorial seat, assuring party members and supporters of his commitment to delivering effective representation.

The party’s senatorial primaries for Owerri Zone were held on May 30, 2026, across the district, where Maduka emerged victorious to secure the party’s ticket and become its official flag bearer for the 2027 Senate election.

According to his supporters, Maduka remains the only senatorial candidate in Imo State to have received a Certificate of Return from his party so far, a development they describe as a reflection of the party’s confidence in his candidacy.

The event was witnessed by party officials, supporters, and political stakeholders as preparations continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
