Spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed confidence that the former Vice President will make significant gains across Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election.
Okonkwo said the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which Atiku is expected to contest under, has already built enough support to sweep all 19 states in the North.
Speaking on AIT’s Democracy Today on Monday, he attributed the projected support for Atiku to growing dissatisfaction with the economic situation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to Okonkwo, rising petrol prices, the cost of living and the minimum wage have increased economic pressure on Nigerians and could influence voters ahead of the election.

Beyond the North, the former Labour Party chieftain predicted that Atiku’s campaign would secure more than two states in the South-South, arguing that the choice of a running mate from the region could strengthen the party’s appeal.
He also identified Osun, Ondo and Ogun as three Southwest states where he believes the opposition could emerge victorious.
Okonkwo pointed to alleged internal disagreements within the APC in Ondo and Ogun as factors that could benefit the opposition.
He further dismissed the perception of Lagos as an automatic stronghold for President Tinubu, claiming that the President has never enjoyed overwhelming popularity in the state.
The projections come as opposition parties intensify efforts to build a formidable platform ahead of the 2027 presidential contest, with the ADC emerging as a major vehicle for the opposition coalition.
While Okonkwo expressed confidence in Atiku’s chances, the projections remain political forecasts and will ultimately be tested by the electorate at the polls.
