The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, attended the wedding ceremony of Barr. Comfort Nwogu and Pastor Osas Usunalele at Christ Embassy Church, No. 82 Omoi Orosi, Psychiatric Hospital Road, Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Barr. Comfort Nwogu is the daughter of Hon. Allen Nwogu of Obingwa Local Government Area, a serving Commissioner in the Abia State Local Government Service Commission.
Congratulating the newlyweds, Governor Otti prayed that God would bless their union with children, abundant resources to raise them, and every good thing that accompanies a successful marriage.
In his fatherly admonition, the Governor reminded the couple that they have a worthy example to emulate in their parents. He noted that he attended their parents’ wedding 30 years ago and was also present when the bride was born. He acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in every marriage but urged the couple to always resolve their differences privately.
The Governor cautioned against involving third parties, including immediate and extended family members, explaining that such individuals may be influenced by bias. He advised that where outside counsel becomes necessary, they should seek the guidance of a genuine man of God.
Governor Otti further encouraged the couple not to allow marriage to come between the friendship that brought them together. He urged them to cultivate the habit of forgiving one another, even before confessions or pleas for forgiveness are made. He stressed that love, patience, and understanding are essential ingredients for a successful marriage.
The wedding ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including, Hon. Peter Azubuike – Chairman, Abia State Labour Party, Sir Prince Uzor Nwachukwu – Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prof. Joel Ogbonna – Commissioner for Petroleum and Solid Minerals, Elder James Nwokocha – Chairman, Abia State Local Government Service Commission, alongside other Commissioners of the Commission. The Mayors of Obingwa, Osisioma, and Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Areas, among others.
