The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic values as the Supreme Court prepares to deliver a crucial judgment.
In a statement released on Thursday, the party described the moment as pivotal for the nation’s democratic journey, stressing that “today is about democracy” and the future of Nigeria.
The ADC noted that while “hope is on trial,” it remains confident that hope will ultimately prevail, urging citizens to stay optimistic about the country’s institutions and processes.
The party further emphasized the need for Nigeria to remain “a democracy of choices, not control,” warning against any drift toward a one-party system. According to the ADC, political plurality is essential for safeguarding the voice of the people and ensuring accountability in governance.
Positioning itself as a platform for ordinary Nigerians, the party said it stands as “the voice of the people and the hope of the common man,” reiterating its commitment to democratic ideals.
The statement concluded with a strong message of support for democracy and national unity, declaring: “No to a one-party system. Yes to democracy. Yes to Nigeria.”
The Supreme Court judgment is expected to have significant political implications, drawing attention from stakeholders across the country.
