Mason Mount has defended his decision to shush supporters of Chelsea FC following their hostile chants during a recent match, insisting he felt disrespected despite his contributions to the club.
Speaking after the game, the Manchester United midfielder said he “gave everything” during his time at Chelsea, highlighting his role in helping the team secure the UEFA Champions League title and reach two finals.
Mount expressed disappointment that, years after his departure, sections of Chelsea fans continue to criticize his exit. He maintained that his move away from Stamford Bridge was a mutual decision and not a betrayal, as some supporters have suggested.
“I left the club three years ago, but people still act like I did something wrong,” he said. “I expected better from them.”
The England international also addressed his decision to join Manchester United, revealing it was a natural step given his long-standing support for the club.
“I’ve always been a Manchester United fan since I was a kid, so I don’t see anything wrong with joining the club I support,” Mount added.
He stressed that his reaction during the match was driven by the chants directed at him, stating he was unwilling to tolerate what he viewed as unfair treatment from fans he once represented.
