The political atmosphere in Mbaise was charged with excitement as a prominent youth leader, Comrade Ibeh Chukwuemeka, publicly endorsed Hon. Emeka Chinedu for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Comrade Ibeh, who serves as the Mbaise Nation Political Youth Leader, made a strong appeal to stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owerri Zone to rally behind Hon. Chinedu, describing him as the most viable candidate to represent the constituency at the Green Chambers.

Hon. Chinedu, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, is seeking a third term. According to Ibeh, his re-election would position him strategically for higher legislative responsibilities, including potential emergence as Chief Whip or Majority Leader in the National Assembly.
The youth leader also praised Hon. Chinedu for his financial support to the party, noting that he was the sole aspirant who donated ₦5 million during the Owerri Zonal APC Leadership Meeting held at Ewayi Event Centre in Owerri.

Meanwhile, leaders of the APC in Owerri Zone used the occasion to commend the Imo Elders Council for its resolution advocating the zoning of the state’s governorship to Owerri Zone after the tenure of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The leaders described the move as timely and crucial for maintaining political balance and stability in Imo State.
Speaking during the meeting, the Owerri Zonal Chairman of the APC, Hon. Chief Justus Ogu, expressed appreciation to the elders for what he termed a bold and visionary decision. He noted that the resolution demonstrates fairness, inclusiveness, and a commitment to unity across the state.

Ogu further acknowledged the support from leaders of other zones who have aligned with the decision, adding that such cooperation strengthens trust and promotes harmony within the party.
He urged party faithful to remain disciplined and united, stressing that internal cohesion is essential for achieving future political success. According to him, leaders must act responsibly and avoid actions that could undermine the confidence reposed in the zone.
Reaffirming the zone’s political direction, Ogu stated that Owerri Zone remains committed to supporting any candidate that emerges through due consultation led by Governor Uzodimma and other stakeholders.
The meeting attracted key figures within the party, including the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Chinyere Ekomaru, members of the National and State Assemblies, party executives, council officials, and ward leaders.
Participants at the gathering reiterated their commitment to unity and pledged to work collectively to sustain the APC’s dominance in Owerri Zone and across Imo State.
