
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially unveiled its timetable and guidelines for the 2027 general elections, announcing that presidential aspirants will pay ₦60 million for Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
According to the party leadership, the presidential primary election is scheduled to hold on May 29, 2027, in Abuja, while the sale of nomination forms has already commenced nationwide. The party also disclosed that governorship aspirants will pay ₦30 million, Senate aspirants ₦8 million, House of Representatives hopefuls ₦6 million, and State Assembly aspirants ₦2.5 million.
In a move aimed at encouraging inclusion, the NDC announced a 50% discount for female aspirants across all categories, while persons living with disabilities will only pay 25% of the approved fees.
The party further revealed that it would adopt an “open secret ballot” voting method during its primaries to ensure transparency and credibility in the selection process. Party officials also stressed that all aspirants must meet constitutional requirements and party guidelines before participating in the elections.
The announcement comes amid growing political realignments and intense preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with major opposition figures already being linked to the NDC platform.
