The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for key elective positions, giving aspirants additional time to complete the process ahead of the party’s primaries.

In a statement signed by Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party announced that the previous deadline of 6:00 p.m. on May 17, 2026, has now been moved to 12:00 midnight on May 24, 2026.

The extension affects aspirants contesting for seats in State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions. However, the party declared that the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for the presidential position has officially closed.

According to the party, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed the forms will commence on May 19 and end on May 26, while the collection and return of Nomination Forms for screened and cleared aspirants will run from May 20 to May 26.

The NDC stressed that no further extension would be granted after the new deadline and urged aspirants to comply strictly with the timetable.

The party also directed aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues with required documents, including educational certificates, birth certificates or declarations of age, passport photographs, voter identification cards, NDC membership cards, and copies of their curriculum vitae. All documents are expected to be submitted in six copies each.

The statement noted that screening would be guided by factors including the wishes of the electorate, local considerations, aspirants’ competence, and character. The party also reminded screening committees to observe its affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

NDC further encouraged aspirants to pursue consensus-building efforts, emphasizing that only cleared candidates would qualify to purchase nomination forms.
