Nigerian rapper Odumodu blvck has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide financial support to Nigerian music artists, arguing that the government should do more to support the creative industry.
In a social media post, the rapper urged President Tinubu to “sign all of us” and provide artists with financial backing to enable them to record music and grow their careers.
Odumodublvck argued that Nigerian artists are frequently described as the “pride of the country,” but questioned whether the government provides sufficient support to sustain the industry.
According to him, artists often have to finance their projects themselves, despite the significant role Nigerian music plays in promoting the country internationally.
“Baba come give boys advance from government funds. Na you go be the biggest label boss,” he wrote.
He further suggested that government-backed funding could help reduce conflicts between artists and record labels while also giving upcoming and underground artists opportunities to develop their careers.
“Governmental backing for artists gats dey,” the rapper added, while appealing directly to President Tinubu for financial support.
