
A Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Mining Development, Honourable Folawe Omowumi Sipasi – Aluko has sought a partnership with the Ondo State Board Of Internal Revenue Service, with a view to combat the activities of illegal miners in Ondo State and harness the Federal government approved fund budgeted for the procurement of a satellite gadget worth the sum of N2.5 billion.
The aide of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Honourable Folawe dropped the hint while on a visit to the office of the Chief Executive officer of Ondo State Board Of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Bayo Rojughokan in Akure.
Giving her remarks during the visit, Honourable Folawe described Ondo State as a State endowed with special mineral resources readily available to be harnessed to increase the internally generated revenue for the State, and guide in the task of creating more job opportunities, and provide basic amenities and better the welfare of the citizenry.
She decried the level of quantum of revenue Ondo State is losing, as a result of illegal activities of illegal miners, that are supposed to be accrued into Ondo State coffers.
Adding, she called for immediate action against the influx of illegal miners into Ondo State, and their unwholesome activities, which are already posing security threats and impacting negatively on the environment.
Honourable Folawe Omowunmi Sipasi-Aluko however expressed the readiness of government to ensure the repositioning of the mining sector, thereby nipping in the bud, the activities of the illegal miners by protecting the lives and properties of the citizenry and generating revenues, and also devising means of installing the satellite gadgets into strategic points to ascertain the location of the hoodlums.
