Ondo Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robbers

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Akure in recent months.

The suspects, identified as Amubieya Emmanuel (26) and Ogunmola Akintola (26), were apprehended on February 25, 2025, by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team in Ondo Town.

According to preliminary investigations, the duo had been involved in a series of robbery incidents in Akure since August 2024. Their mode of operation involved picking up unsuspecting female victims at night—around 10:00 PM—using a Toyota Camry. They would then drive their victims to remote locations, rob them of their mobile phones, and force them to transfer money from their bank accounts at gunpoint. However, police later discovered that the gun they used was a toy gun.

Items recovered from the suspects include the Toyota Camry used for their operations, a knife, an iron rod, and the toy gun.

The police confirmed that the suspects had been on their watchlist and have now confessed to the crimes. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend any accomplices.

The Ondo State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
