Three security personnel have been killed and two others injured following an attack by suspected terrorists on Tenobo village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 1:10 a.m. on May 1 when the assailants launched an attack on personnel in the area.
The sources disclosed that troops of the 22 Brigade, alongside security operatives, forest guards and vigilantes, responded to the distress call and moved to the scene.
According to the sources, preliminary findings revealed that three personnel lost their lives during the attack, while two mobile police officers sustained gunshot injuries.
They added that the attackers carted away two AK-47 rifles and one riot gun during the incident.
The sources further said the deceased and injured personnel were evacuated to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for further medical attention and necessary procedures.
Security agencies have since intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen weapons.
