Three Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested After Attack on Tricycle Driver, Passengers in Ibadan

Three suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command following an alleged robbery attack on a tricycle driver and two passengers around Sumal Junction Roundabout in Ibadan.

The suspects, identified as Sunday Obasola, 29; Kayode Bamikole, 28; and Durodoye Ayobami, 23, were apprehended on Thursday, October 8, 2026, after police operatives responded to a distress call reporting an attack on residents.

According to the police, officers attached to the Oluyole Division arrived at the scene and arrested the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio allegedly dispossessed a tricycle driver and two passengers of their belongings, with some of the victims reportedly sustaining injuries during the incident.

Items recovered from the suspects included a black TVS motorcycle with registration number AKN 808QF, a locally fabricated cut-down pistol and a live cartridge.

The police said the suspects were being held in custody, while the case had been transferred to the Violence Crime Response Unit in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to security agencies.

The command reiterated its commitment to tackling armed robbery and other criminal activities across the state, urging members of the public to cooperate with the police in maintaining security.
