Tony Kabaka’s Hotel Demolition: Edo People Calls On President Buhari To Come To Their Aid

By Abdulsallam Mohammed

ABUJA: Earlier today, the hotel owned by an Apc chieftain and a grass-root mobilizer cum business man,Mr Tony A. Kabaka was said to have been illegally demolished by Edo state government, on the authority of the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki.

A couple of months ago, Mr Tony Kabaka was issued a letter by the state government to evacuate the land, which the state government “claimed” he acquired illegally. Having received the letter, Mr Tony Kabaka showed to the world, his land ownership certificate, and thereafter brought the matter before the court of law for justice to be served as it was certified that Mr Tony Kabaka legally acquired the said land.

Having filed a suit before the court, the court thereafter issued a restraining order to the defendant (state government) to discontinue further actions in the land pending the court verdict.

Today, to the surprise of the world, the state government entirely disobeyed the court orders restraining it from demolishing Mr Tony Kabaka’s hotel by mobilizing bulldozers to demolish Mr Tony’s legally acquired property.

Speaking with our correspondent in Abuja, Mr Isaac Aleakhue, a business tycoon based in Abuja condemned the act in its totality, stressing that it’s a threat to democracy. “Mr Obaseki would have at least understand that he would one day leave that government position, what he does as a governor today will speak volume of him tomorrow. Destroying a man’s legally acquired property just because he is not in support of your unmerited second term bid is totally inhuman, cruel and barbaric.” he said

Mr Jefferson Osagie also spoke on the development. “A friend of mine just called me from Edo to inform me of this condemnable development, it came to me in total disbelief. I never imagined that a state government could be so cruel and utterly arrogant. I learnt that there is a court order restraining the government from destroying the properties of Kabaka, to this note, I wonder why Mr Obaseki, who’s representing the state government still went ahead to give an order for the demolition of Mr Tony Kabaka’s property. This is wickedness. Mr President should please come to our aid. We know Obaseki did not support President Buhari’s second term bid, I wonder if he would obey him on this, but the president is our hope at this moment. We believe in Mr President’s love for the people of Nigeria. We appreciate him for all what he is doing for Nigerians, but Edo people needs Baba’s intervention at this moment to put an end to this quagmire.
