Residents of Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State were left grappling with flooded streets and disrupted activities on Friday following another torrential downpour that swept through the community.
The heavy rainfall, which lasted for several hours, submerged parts of major roads and residential areas, making movement difficult for residents and motorists.
One public event in the town was reportedly brought to an abrupt halt as the intensity of the rain and rising floodwaters made it impossible for activities to continue.
Residents expressed concern over the recurring flooding, noting that the situation has become a yearly challenge during the rainy season. Many blamed inadequate drainage infrastructure and blocked waterways for the persistent problem.
Business owners were also affected, with some forced to temporarily shut down operations as floodwaters encroached on shops and commercial areas.
As the rainy season intensifies across Anambra State, residents are calling on relevant authorities to address drainage and flood-control challenges to prevent further disruptions to businesses, social events, and daily life.
