NDLEA Busts Forest Meth Lab in Oyo, Arrests Four Mexican Nationals

NDLEA Busts Forest Meth Lab in Oyo

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided another industrial-scale methamphetamine laboratory hidden in a forest in Tapa Village, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State. Four Mexican nationals were arrested during the operation, and illicit substances worth billions of naira were recovered.

NDLEA says the lab was run by a Nigerian-Mexican cartel operating deep inside the forest. This latest bust comes barely a month after the agency uncovered and shut down a similar clandestine meth lab in an Ogun State forest, where several Mexican suspects were also taken into custody.

The growing presence of Mexican drug cartel specialists in Nigeria’s Southwest has raised serious concern among security agencies. The NDLEA is being commended for successfully tracking and dismantling these hidden drug laboratories before they can flood the streets with dangerous substances.
