Peter Obi has called on Nigerian politicians to prioritise unity, love, justice and mutual respect ahead of the forthcoming elections, urging contestants to focus on ideas and solutions rather than divisive politics.
Obi made the call after joining Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed at the commissioning of the Presidential Campaign Office of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Abuja.
In a statement, Obi said political contests should not be allowed to overshadow Nigerians’ shared love for the country.
He urged political actors to make their campaigns about addressing major challenges confronting the nation, including insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the rising number of out-of-school children.
> “We must insist that our shared love for our country should always be greater than our political differences,” Obi said.
According to him, politicians should compete based on ideas capable of uniting Nigerians, improving living conditions and restoring hope to the country.
He also called for respect, decency and love among political contestants, particularly as the election season approaches.
Obi congratulated Makinde, Mohammed and other APM leaders and members on the opening of the party’s campaign office.
He concluded by reiterating his belief that a better Nigeria is achievable, stating: “A New Nigeria is POssible with OK.”
