Social media activist and commentator VeryDarkMan has called out telecommunications company MTN over the alleged unauthorised use of his private phone number in an advert promoting the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO).
In a post directed at MTN, VeryDarkMan said his lawyers would be sending a letter to the company demanding a detailed explanation as to how his private number, which he said is linked to his National Identification Number (NIN), was allegedly used without his consent.
He warned that he would take legal action if the company’s explanation did not satisfy him.
“My lawyers will be sending a letter to your office. I will want a well-detailed explanation as to why my private number was used for Dangote IPO advert without my consent,” he stated.
VeryDarkMan also questioned the Dangote IPO, saying the entire process “looks like a Ponzi scheme” to him.
He argued that if Aliko Dangote genuinely wants to make life easier for Nigerians through the sale of shares in his refinery, reducing the prices of essential commodities and products such as cement, petroleum products, rice and sugar would have a more direct impact on Nigerians.
He further maintained that a significant reduction in the prices of these commodities would help ease the economic hardship faced by citizens.
Concluding his message, VeryDarkMan told MTN to prepare for what he described as an impending legal confrontation.
